Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install an IKEA Metod kitchen in my home. I have some questions regarding the attachment of the kitchen cabinets to different types of walls. I have a load-bearing concrete wall as well as an older interior wall made of bricks in one area, which is non-load-bearing. My main question is: How can I securely fix the cabinets of the Metod series to these different wall types so that they hold properly and no damage occurs over time due to incorrect installation? Which anchors or screws are recommended, and are there any common mistakes to avoid when mounting on, for example, older brick walls or drywall? I look forward to your practical tips and explanations, preferably from personal experience, as I want a strong and durable installation.

Drywall should only be loaded using special drywall anchors (toggle bolts, metal anchors, or cavity anchors)Thank you for the detailed explanation. However, what should I do if the method involves relatively heavy wall cabinets that need to be mounted on a drywall that unfortunately has no load-bearing studs behind it? Is it absolutely necessary to install a substructure, or are there especially strong solutions available? The material behind the drywall is often just air, and in my opinion, plain drywall cannot support such a load.

Do I necessarily have to install a substructure, or are there especially strong solutions? In a drywall without load-bearing elements behind it, a substructure is usually essential for heavy kitchen cabinets. Alternatively, large-dimension drywall anchors can be used, but these are generally designed for lighter loads. The safest approach is installing a wooden or metal support beam behind the drywall or attaching the cabinets directly to load-bearing studs inside the wall. Otherwise, the weight can cause cracks or even a collapse.
