Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install an IKEA Metod kitchen in my home. I have some questions regarding the attachment of the kitchen cabinets to different types of walls. I have a load-bearing concrete wall as well as an older interior wall made of bricks in one area, which is non-load-bearing. My main question is: How can I securely fix the cabinets of the Metod series to these different wall types so that they hold properly and no damage occurs over time due to incorrect installation? Which anchors or screws are recommended, and are there any common mistakes to avoid when mounting on, for example, older brick walls or drywall? I look forward to your practical tips and explanations, preferably from personal experience, as I want a strong and durable installation.

I’m curious if anyone here has experience with mounting on timber frame or wooden walls? For timber frame and wooden walls, the most important thing is to use appropriate wood screws, not wall plugs. The furniture should be fixed directly into the load-bearing wooden beams with screws. Beforehand, locate the beams using a stud finder or small drill test holes to position the screws correctly. Alternatively, a sturdy substructure made of wooden battens can be attached, to which the IKEA furniture can then be fixed using standard wood screws.
Thank you all for the helpful advice! To summarize, I understand the following: - Use secure heavy-duty anchors for concrete walls. - Equip brick walls with cavity or expansion anchors. - Use toggle bolts for drywall, or better yet, mount on a supporting framework if the furniture is heavy. - Use timber framing or wood as a load-bearing point, fastening with wood screws. This should prepare me well for the installation. If anyone has additional tips regarding screw sizes or details about IKEA Metod mounting options, I would be happy to hear your feedback.
