Hello everyone,
I have been experiencing a problem for some time now with the hinges on my Ikea Pax wardrobe squeaking when I open or close the doors. The noise is quite annoying, especially since the wardrobe is located in the middle of the bedroom.
I suspect the squeaking is caused by lack of lubrication or possibly dirty hinge parts. However, I want to make sure I don’t damage anything by attempting repairs myself.
Are there any proven methods or specific lubricants that work well with Ikea Pax hinges? Do I need to remove the doors completely to do this, or can it be done while the doors are still installed?
Also, I’m curious if cleaning the hinges beforehand is necessary before applying lubricant, or if simply spraying oil is sufficient.
I look forward to your tips and experiences that can help me permanently fix this noise!

Hello Pauhaydar,
I would like to add that with Ikea Pax hinges, you usually don’t have to completely remove the door; they can generally be disengaged and taken off by pressing on the hinge from the side.
An important tip for cleaning: Before lubricating, make sure to remove any visible dust and dirt with a lint-free cloth, as otherwise dirt will get trapped in the lubricant and the squeaking will come back.
Regarding the lubricant: Silicone spray is a good option, but if you prefer something that dries faster, a special graphite spray works very well, especially on metal hinges. Just be careful that there is no paint on the hinge, as the spray can cause stains.
Stay calm and take your time; the task is manageable and your wardrobe will thank you!

Sometimes the squeaking annoyed me so much that I finally decided to tackle it.I know that feeling very well. Squeaking can be really annoying, especially early in the morning or late at night.
Personally, I've had good results by applying silicone spray with the door open, then gently moving the door back and forth a few times to work the spray into all the areas.
If possible, leave the door slightly open afterward so the spray can dry properly. This usually keeps the noise away for a longer time.
Good luck with your repair and keep at it!
