Hello everyone, I recently assembled some IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets and have noticed that some screws have become loose in certain areas. This causes the furniture to feel slightly wobbly, especially with frequent use of the cabinet doors and drawers. My question is: How can I effectively fix loose screws in IKEA Metod furniture? Are there proven methods to protect the material and prevent the screws from loosening again? Which tools and aids would you recommend for this? I am mainly concerned with the connections between the cabinet carcass and fittings, as well as the screws in the drawer slides and hinges. Thank you in advance for your advice!

Loose screws are always frustrating, especially in kitchen cabinets that are used daily. I had the exact same issue with Metod modules, which initially made me nervous. After a few attempts, I developed my own little routine: always screw in with light torque, never too tight. If the holes have become stripped, as already suggested here, use dowels and wood glue. It is also important to tighten screws promptly when problems arise, rather than waiting until everything becomes wobbly. You really need to develop a feel for it, but with a steady hand, it is definitely doable. Sometimes, making these small repairs yourself speaks to the quality of the furniture – it almost feels like a DIY project and can even be enjoyable! Good luck to everyone facing the same issue.
