Hello everyone, I am currently trying to assemble my new Ikea Brimnes dressers. My specific question is: how do I properly install the drawers of the Brimnes series so that they slide smoothly and without sticking? At first, I followed the instructions, but the bottom drawer keeps catching, which might indicate issues with the drawer runners or alignment. I have already checked that all screws are tightened, but maybe there are additional tips or tricks for precisely adjusting the drawers, especially regarding the installation of the metal runners. Does anyone have experience with the exact assembly of these drawers and perhaps recommendations that go beyond the official instructions?

I’m curious whether you fully assemble the drawers before sliding them in, or if you build them directly on the furniture? That’s an important point, benonon. If the drawer is assembled directly on the furniture, the fit can be adjusted more precisely. I have gained most of my experience with Brimnes in this way, because if you fully pre-assemble the drawer and then install it, it usually fits a bit tighter.

Here is a small detail: The plastic rollers are not mounted on steel axles but on plastic pins, which can flex slightly under load. This means that if you install the drawer too tightly without any adjustment, the rollers may disengage or not run smoothly.
Therefore, it is advisable to install the drawer as lightly as possible and experiment with small adjustments. If possible, align the drawers while pushing them in slightly open and pay attention to any tilting movements.

Then insert the drawer, check where it gets stuck, slightly loosen the runners again, and make minimal adjustments.
Repeat this process a few times before finally securing everything. This saves a lot of trouble and sometimes a lot of time!
