Good morning everyone! I am planning to install my Ikea Metod kitchen fronts and want to secure the doors in a way that ensures they are as safe and durable as possible. My question is, which methods or additional steps would you recommend to optimize the standard hinges and installation procedures? Are there any tips for preparation or reinforcing the door mounting to prevent issues with frequent daily use? I look forward to your experiences and detailed advice!

Can you explain the adjustment of the hinges in more detail?Of course! Ikea Metod hinges usually have three adjustment screws:
- Height adjustment: This screw allows you to move the door vertically. Loosen the screw slightly and move the door up or down until it aligns flush with the other doors.
- Lateral adjustment: This is used to adjust the door horizontally so that the gaps between the doors are even.
- Closing force adjustment: This screw controls how tightly the door presses against the cabinet frame.
It’s best to start by adjusting the height, then the lateral position, and finally the closing force. To achieve an optimal fit, the door should close without play or deformation but also without sticking.
After adjusting, open and close the doors several times to check comfort and stability. Minor fine-tuning is normal.

If the door sticks, it can be due to one hinge being set too tightly. Simply loosen both screws, align the door, and then tighten them again.
Here’s another tip: If you want your doors to last especially long, always use the supplied drill bit from Ikea. Everything fits perfectly with it! Otherwise, the hinges won’t hold as securely.
Don’t forget: Patience pays off! That’s the most important thing when installing doors 😀
