Good morning everyone, I am currently planning to assemble an Ikea Metod kitchen unit, and I want to focus especially on having noise-reducing drawers. My question is: what is the best way to build this kitchen unit to ensure the drawers open and close as quietly as possible?

I’m interested in all relevant details, from the assembly steps to the choice of suitable drawer slides, as well as tips for adjustment and maintenance to minimize noise. Are there any accessories or special settings to consider specifically for the Metod cabinets?

I already have basic experience with furniture assembly but want to avoid common mistakes that can cause misaligned or rattling drawers. Thanks in advance for your advice!

For additional noise reduction, I recommend occasionally treating the drawer slides with a dry silicone spray. Oil-based lubricants can attract dirt and cause more problems in the long run.

Additionally, the drawer runners should be regularly checked to ensure they are securely fastened. Loose screws are a common cause of rattling noises.

A practical addition are special plastic buffers that some users place between the drawer front and the cabinet frame. These significantly reduce the impact noise when closing.

Furthermore, I recommend distributing the load on the slides evenly during installation, meaning that heavy items should not be placed only in the bottom drawer, as this affects the drawer movement.

That sounds logical, but I wonder how exactly this "precise alignment" can be achieved if the room is not perfectly square.

I would like to add that, in addition to adjustable feet, gluing the carcasses together can help prevent twisting. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the material of the Metod systems is not subjected to excessive stress, so that the damping mechanisms do not wear out prematurely.

This caution also applies to the choice of screws and using a torque wrench for fastening.
