ᐅ How can I align IKEA BESTA doors so they stay perfectly straight over time?

Hello everyone,

I recently installed the doors on my IKEA Besta cabinet, but despite multiple adjustments, they gradually slip out of perfect alignment over time and no longer hang straight. I am interested in how to properly align BESTA doors so that they remain straight permanently, without tilting due to gravity, material flexibility, or minor installation tolerances.

I have already tried readjusting the hinges several times while the cabinet is assembled, but after a few weeks, the door is slightly warped again or rubs against the cabinet frame. The hinges do have fine adjustment options.

Does anyone have tips or experience on the most effective method to ensure the doors stay straight in the long term? Would additional measures be helpful, such as reinforcements or special screws? Or is the issue more likely related to the cabinet frame or the wall?

Thank you very much for any helpful advice!

I think adjusting the hinges is truly an art, and that's exactly where the magic lies.

Haha, perfectly put! Sometimes adjusting the Besta doors feels like a little magic trick. ✨

I also like to use rubber buffers or small felt pads at the contact points of the doors to avoid constant pressure on the hinges, which helps keep the doors aligned longer.

And don’t forget: basements or humid rooms affect the wood and adjustments more often, so be especially patient there!

Very important question! One great thing about IKEA products is that you can often fix things yourself once you know the trick!

I recommend first completely removing the doors from the hinges, then using a spirit level to carefully level the cabinet. After that, check the hinges thoroughly again—sometimes you can find minor irregularities or tighten the hinges slightly.

Important: A steady hand when adjusting, making small adjustments step by step, and lots of patience. It’s worth it, I promise! Good luck, and please keep us updated! 😄
