Hello everyone,

I have a question that’s currently on my mind: How can multiple IKEA Pax wardrobes be securely and stably connected together? Specifically, I want to place two to three wardrobes side by side so that they form a visually and functionally unified piece. It is important to me that the connection holds up long-term, with no gaps or instability, and that the wardrobes don’t affect each other, for example through slight shifting or uneven floor levels.

Which methods or components are particularly suitable for this? Are the included fittings sufficient, or should something additional be used? Are there any special tips for cleanly and securely bonding or screwing them together? Experiences with screw connections, brackets, or stabilization at the top are also very welcome.

Looking forward to your tips and suggestions!

Hey Niwim,

great, detailed question, I like it! 😄 To securely connect several Pax wardrobes together, I usually use the supplied connector screws and add metal brackets from the hardware store. Especially when placing multiple units side by side, this adds extra stability and prevents them from pulling apart under load.

It’s important to carefully check the floor beforehand and properly adjust the feet to prevent any wobbling — uneven floors are the most common cause of instability. A small tip: applying a bit of assembly adhesive on the contact surfaces can create a firmer bond, which holds even if you slide the wardrobes around.

Basically, the holy trinity for Pax connections: connector screws + brackets + floor leveling. That way, the unit should be rock solid. 🚀

Hello Niwim,

I’m happy to provide a clear guide on how to connect multiple Pax wardrobes together:

- First, assemble each wardrobe completely on its own and then push them together.
- Be sure to use the original IKEA connector fittings to screw the side panels together. These are specifically designed to join the wardrobes.
- Additionally, I recommend attaching metal brackets inside, ideally at the top and in the middle, to ensure extra stability.
- Check the floor—adjustable furniture feet might be necessary so none of the wardrobes wobble and all are level.
- If you like, you can place narrow connecting strips (wood or MDF) between the wardrobes, which can be painted if desired—this creates a seamless look and prevents dust buildup.

Make sure not to overtighten the screws, as the furniture is made of particleboard and excessive force can damage the material.

If you have any questions about the step-by-step assembly, feel free to ask.

Construction adhesive might sound solid, but I consider it problematic if you ever want to disassemble the cabinets. IKEA furniture isn’t designed for permanent gluing anyway. In my opinion, screws and brackets are a better choice because the connection remains reversible.

Also, make sure to secure the cabinets to the wall to prevent tipping hazards. In my view, the connection between the cabinets does not replace wall mounting, which is really important, especially for taller models.

Otherwise, if you want to improve the appearance, you can cover visible seams with furniture joint tape – this is mainly cosmetic, but it does enhance the look of a continuous unit.

I can only emphasize that! I once underestimated how important wall mounting is—especially if there are small children or pets in the house.

For joining cabinets, I always used the connection screws from IKEA, but I also added a hidden metal bracket at the top on each cabinet side. This provides extra stability without much effort.

What fascinated me besides the technique was the idea that with such simple modifications, you can turn separate pieces of furniture into a cohesive unit that works long-term and looks better as well.

I wish you the best of luck, and feel free to reach out if you need more input!
