Good morning everyone, I plan to install Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets in my apartment, but I’m facing the problem that the walls here are quite uneven. The irregularities and slopes are sometimes more than 2 cm (0.8 inches) over a length of 2 meters (6.6 feet). How can I still mount the Metod cabinets securely and level so that they stand safely and straight, without causing any future structural or functional issues? I’m open to tips on leveling, fastening to the wall, and possible alternative solutions if the Ikea mounting system has limitations in this regard. Thanks in advance for your opinions and experiences!

Would it be advisable to secure or stabilize the cabinets to the floor if the walls are really uneven?Good question! Generally, Metod cabinets are designed for secure wall mounting, but floor fixing or additional supports are not prohibited. The main goal is structural stability.
If the cabinets only rest on the floor, they can shift or tip, so wall mounting is important. When the wall is uneven, adjustable system legs can be used at different heights to ensure the cabinet sits level on the floor, in addition to wall mounting.
Make sure the floor and wall fixings work together as a stable unit. If you decide to add floor fixings, they should be properly secured like with screws – this greatly improves stability on sloped surfaces.
In short: yes, floor supports are possible and often helpful, but they do not replace wall mounting; rather, they complement it.

Make sure that the floor and wall fixings form a stable unit together.Thank you for the detailed explanation; it helps me a lot with the planning. I will install a mounting batten, use shims for adjustment, align the cabinets precisely, and then work with adjustable feet on the floor. I hope this way I can achieve a good balance between stability and a straight appearance.
Quite pragmatically: You can also secure all cabinets at the bottom to the floor using brackets and angle screws. This way, you can be more relaxed about mounting them to the wall. The important thing is that none of the cabinets wobble, and you can use any means to prevent that.
