Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion here on the topic of "How can I creatively redesign Ikea Platsa for space optimization?" Specifically, I am interested in how the Platsa series, which is quite modular and flexible, can be adapted even better to make the most of small or unusually shaped rooms. I am considering whether the individual modules can be used not only as traditional cabinets but also, for example, as room dividers, seating with storage, or even small workspace niches. Are there any experiences or tips on how to use Platsa creatively to maximize both function and design? I look forward to your ideas and experiences!
The idea of converting Platsa into a workspace niche is very good. I recommend creating a work surface from one of the larger modules, reinforced with a sturdy wooden board. The Ikea end panels, which are not designed for heavy loads, are hardly suitable for this purpose, so it's better to use additional materials. Optimizing space usually means combining different options: tall cabinet units for storage plus lower parts as shelves or work surfaces. Therefore, always take measurements beforehand and arrange the modules in a practical way.

Are there any experiences with custom-made fronts or individually designed doors for Platsa?Yes, I have done that! My fronts were covered with colored vinyl films and enhanced with copper handles. This adds a lot of personality and looks more modern than the standard doors. For small spaces, it’s a great way to create highlights without major renovations. Plus, nothing gets damaged if you want to redesign later on.

The idea of converting Platsa into a workspace nook is very good.I completely agree. Especially in small apartments, there is a strong desire for a dedicated yet unobtrusive workspace. Personally, I have had positive experiences with a combination of open shelves and closed cabinets. This way, you can stay organized without the workspace feeling cluttered.

Personally, I have had positive experiences here with a combination of open shelves and closed cabinets.Thank you for the tip; I will definitely give that a try. For me, the interaction between open and closed elements is still a challenge. It’s important that the units are not only functional but also bring visual calm to the room. How do you handle this in practice? Do you deliberately use colors or specific materials to achieve this? Are there any recommendations?
