Hello everyone, I am considering how to adapt my Ikea Besta system for practical use in the bedroom. The modules are currently set up more for living room purposes but are now intended to serve as storage and also as a design element next to and possibly behind the bed. I am especially interested in practical tips for integrating lighting, material modifications to create a more pleasant appearance, and perhaps clever ideas for using them as a nightstand or to prevent dust buildup in closed cabinets. Does anyone have experience with customized Besta modifications specifically tailored for bedroom use? Thanks for your ideas!
It would be helpful to clarify how much storage space you actually need and which items you primarily intend to store there. Only then can practical adjustments be planned and overcrowding avoided. Additionally, you should consider that Besta is neither soundproofed nor specifically designed for bedroom humidity. What are the conditions like in your case?

I mainly want to store clothes, bedding, and smaller personal items. Integrated solutions for charging stations or small shelves for glasses and books are also of interest. My bedroom is medium-sized, about 14m² (150 square feet), and relatively dry. For that reason, I am looking for a practical yet aesthetically pleasing solution.
That sounds like an exciting project! 😊 I modified my Besta so that one module is used as a shelf with glass doors, which looks really elegant and protects the contents from dust. Additionally, I installed small spotlights that create a cozy atmosphere. You can also apply wallpaper or films to the back panel to add color and texture!
