Some time ago, I bought the Billy shelving unit from IKEA and now want to adjust the doors because they no longer close properly and hang a bit crooked. The hinges are there, but I don’t find the adjustment options very intuitive.
My question is: How can I precisely adjust the BILLY doors to align them flush and even again? Are there any special points to consider, for example, which tools are best, how the adjustment screws work, or tips to avoid damaging the doors?

My tip: Completely remove the screws, take off the hinge, and inspect the screw holes. If they are slightly worn out, you can try the following:
- Insert a small wooden wedge or toothpick coated with wood glue into the hole, then reinsert the screw.
- Alternatively, use small wooden dowels.
After that, reinstall the hinge and adjust the door as previously described.
This stabilizes the fit and prevents permanent wobbling.
