Hello everyone, I am currently facing the problem of having to install my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets on a floor that is unfortunately not level. This causes the cabinets to wobble or not align properly, which also affects the stability and the fit of the doors.

My question is: What specific options are there to best level Metod cabinets on uneven floors? What tools or techniques do you recommend to assemble these cabinets stable and straight despite floor irregularities? I have already considered adjustable feet, but I am unsure how much they can actually compensate for. Are there any other tricks to get the cabinets to the same height?

I look forward to your tips and experiences.

Hello, just fully extend the adjustable feet from Ikea. They can be adjusted by up to a few centimeters (inches). If the difference is greater, place small wooden wedges under the feet. Using a spirit level also helps to align everything precisely.

Hello Gudi33, your topic is very important for the safe and functional assembly of the Metod cabinets. I recommend starting with a precise measurement of the floor unevenness – ideally using a long spirit level or a digital inclinometer.

Next, you should fully extend the adjustable feet from Ikea to make use of the maximum adjustment height. If the feet adjustments are not sufficient, you can also place small wedges made of wood or plastic underneath to compensate for larger height differences.

When assembling the individual modules, make sure to tighten all connecting fittings securely to eliminate any play. If multiple cabinets are placed side by side, it is also advisable to connect them together and then align them as a unit. This prevents uneven floor conditions from causing the individual modules to be misaligned.

Finally, double-check your work with the spirit level, and if possible, secure the cabinets to the wall for added stability. Work carefully step by step, and the alignment will turn out well!

Gudi33, a methodical approach is essential for aligning IKEA Metod cabinets on uneven floors.

- First, determine the height differences of the floor at all relevant points, such as corners and the center. A spirit level or, even better, a digital inclinometer is very helpful for this.
- Use the full adjustment range of the standard IKEA adjustable feet. These can be adjusted up to 10 cm (approximately 4 inches), depending on the model, which usually compensates for minor floor unevenness.
- For greater unevenness, custom-made wooden or plastic shims can be placed under the feet.
- It is important that the cabinets are screwed together to create a stable, level surface across all units.
- Finally, the cabinets should be secured to the wall to prevent tipping, even on uneven floors.

I also recommend using a spirit level and, if needed, an angle measuring device to achieve precise alignment.

This method works well but make sure the shims are permanently stable and do not slip later on.

This way, you can reliably align the Metod cabinets even if the floor is not perfectly level.

Hello Gudi33, I completely understand how frustrating an uneven surface can be when assembling cabinets – you want everything to fit perfectly and stand stable. I had a similar issue with my kitchen some time ago, and I know it can be really annoying.

What helped me was being very patient and working through it step by step. You can really make good use of the adjustable feet from Ikea to compensate for uneven spots. If you’re worried that might not be enough, I also bought small plastic shims to place underneath, which work great to secure everything.

I also found it important to connect the individual modules carefully to each other before leveling them. Sometimes this provides more stability than adjusting each cabinet separately.

If you like, I can share more from my experience. It’s clear that this kind of assembly requires patience, and sometimes you get impatient, but it’s definitely worth sticking with it!
