Hello everyone,
We are planning to install an electronic door lock on the side entrance door of our garage. It should work especially with the Apple Watch but also with a code.
The door will be a Hörmann door. However, the representative told me that Hörmann only offers such functionality for official front doors. Can you confirm this?
He also offered me an electric strike as an alternative, but I actually consider that unnecessary and rather unsuitable, especially for the “continuous open” function.
My idea now is to use a normal “analog” door and then retrofit it directly with the Nuki 3.0 Pro. At this point, I don’t have to consider anything special for the Nuki system, right?
What do you think of this solution? Has anyone planned something similar or already implemented it?

I have a Nuki myself.
If it’s not a very special type of front door, there’s not much to consider. Nuki fits well on almost any door.
The lock cylinder should meet one requirement. I can’t recall the exact technical term right now, but it needs to be double-turn or something similar. The Nuki is mounted on the interior side over the protruding key. So you should use one that still allows the door to be unlocked from the outside with the key inserted.
As for the battery, depending on usage, it needs to be changed about every 3 months. The device indicates when this is necessary.
There is also a rechargeable battery pack available, which lasts a bit longer.
Regarding break-ins or hacking… from what I’ve researched, someone would need to put in quite some effort. I don’t believe it’s something that can be hacked easily.
And anyone determined to get into your home usually finds an easier way anyway.
I admit I also have a burglar alarm system, so that might influence my perspective.
I haven’t really had any technical issues. What type of system does your main entrance door have?
