Good evening everyone

I’m starting a small collection thread here for photos and progress updates on our second building project.
We’ve already moved to the Palatinate region to be closer to the construction site. Now we’re watching eagerly and happily as our (hopefully final) dream home takes shape near family.

One big challenge still ahead of us is the facade design. I really love the Nordic style with brickwork and mullioned windows. That won’t be possible here for two reasons: firstly, no one here can do bricklaying, and secondly, it would stand out too much. We will be going with a rendered facade. How to design the colors of the facade and windows to still create some country house / cottage charm is currently still a work in progress mentally.

Otherwise, I’m sharing our plans here and how it will eventually be built.
The support pillar marked near the kitchen island could be removed for a small extra cost, so that will be gone.

The room for “garden equipment” under the garage will get a partition wall for structural reasons.
It won’t be fully finished living space like in the house, but underfloor heating will be installed, along with a lockable door and a window. It’s meant to store garden tools but also some of the building services equipment, since the utility room (HAR) is quite small, and maybe be used as a party room.

We had three construction companies in the final selection. In the end, we chose the “doer” – a builder recommended to us here by friends and family. No website, no smartphone, but he is on site every day himself working in overalls. He has a very good reputation in this area and now rarely builds single-family homes. We were a bit lucky through personal connections and a very friendly initial phone call to get our foot in the door. So far we are very satisfied with this choice.

Great kitchen. I really like this country house style combined with the modern white. All those ultra-modern kitchens with their high-gloss black/white finishes will look completely outdated in a few years, but a stylish classic kitchen like this will always stay modern.

I partly agree with you on the black and white aspect (even though I’ve had high-gloss white for 8 years), but I seriously doubt 100% that the "classic kitchen" as shown here can be considered modern 😀
It may be timeless, but definitely not modern 😉

It may be timeless in style, but definitely not modern 😉

It’s called modern farmhouse. You have to like cleaning the profiles. 🙂

Yes, timeless is the better word. And I especially appreciate that for kitchens, as they are not replaced as often as simple furniture.

I also really like the kitchen, just like the entire house! It’s going to turn out great; the plot and the view are already impressive!

We were also considering the Sylt model and planned it very similarly to yours. In the end, the Bristol came out on top, and we were lucky to be able to take over a showroom kitchen almost exactly as it was. I really like this style too!

We actually already had the Sylt front in our previous house before it was sold. It’s a really nice finish, and I had no hesitation to choose it again. I also think the value for money is quite good. It’s only in price group 6, but it’s lacquered, not a lacquer laminate.

We also looked at the reed green color from Nobilia. That’s a nice kitchen as well. That would have been the Cascada model, also price group 6, but with a lacquer laminate front. At the kitchen showroom, one corner of the sample front was already chipped, which confirmed my doubts.

I really liked the green too, but I was determined not to let a trendy color distract me from my “dream kitchen in magnolia.” In the end, that was the deciding factor. It’s definitely not modern, but honestly, that’s not my goal at all — not for any part of my interior design. I like it cozy. ^^
“Modern Farmhouse” appeals to me a lot. We also considered that it’s more likely we’ll still like the white in 10 years as much as we do today.

I always find you can really see how different people’s tastes are when it comes to kitchens.
