Hello everyone,

I have another coordination question:
When is the connection for electricity and telephone typically planned?

We are planning a prefab house.
When are the cables usually installed in the house? At the earliest during the house construction, right?
And what about gas and water... those are generally installed together with the cables, aren’t they?

So, should you start applying for everything with the utility providers and telecom about 3 months before the house construction?

I know, lots of questions, but in this area, well, luckily, I have no experience.

Thanks a lot!

It is best to arrange this together with all the other utility connections. This usually happens in the week following the house installation. For us, everything was up and running two days after the installation. Electricity, water, and heating were completed and installed in the house 🙂

The telecom connection was a bit challenging, but with some pressure, it was sorted out. Even without initial paperwork, which we completed afterward.

Just make sure to apply early enough.

Thank you! Then it should be fine if I schedule it this way.

So, our house is already standing, even plastered on the outside. The contracted company will install the multi-utility connection only after the scaffolding is removed, as it is in the way. Everything was commissioned before construction started.

I recently inquired with the telecom provider. They offer a special hotline for home builders.

A telephone line can be ordered once you have the official house number notice in hand. In short—once you have a house number, the telecom can create an order. They told me back then that it takes about 12 weeks from placing the order until the connection point is installed inside the house.

I’ve got a house number now 😉
At least it’s on the notice for the recurring charges.

Do you or does anyone else know how it works if you want only the service connection, but no contract?
I mean regarding the costs, handling, and so on...
