Hello everyone,
things are moving forward for us now. After visiting quite a few kitchen outlets in the past, we finally decided on IKEA. Mainly because it’s affordable – secondly, because the kitchen salespeople were almost driving me crazy in the end (a $1000 discount because the sun is shining…). IKEA doesn’t offer any consultation at all… not great either, but still better than that.
We were somewhat fixed on the layout because of the windows… now we are even more set because of the utility connections… The screed is already in place.
The cabinet fronts are Hyttan and Bodbyn – we will buy the appliances separately.
We thought the waste bin should be a pull-out unit under the sink.
A quick note about the tall cabinet row (since it’s not that visible) on the left side of the plan:
60cm (24 inches) cabinet, oven, 60cm (24 inches) cabinet, refrigerator, small freezer.

We would love to hear your opinion. Are there any things we absolutely should change? Since neither of us really has a sense for design, we would appreciate any tips or comments on that as well.
Thanks and best regards

After nearly 20 years of using pull-out drawer systems for waste bins, we now have standalone trash cans.

They are made of metal, sized according to the amount of waste to be disposed of, easy to clean, and add a splash of color to the kitchen (orange = recycling bag, vanilla = organic waste). They are also more affordable than a cabinet.

This setup is completed by the paper waste, which is stored in a newspaper bag right next to them.

We hadn’t considered the location beforehand, but eventually found a spot near the freezer drawers, which aren’t opened very often.

Interestingly, no one pays attention to the color or size of the bins anymore except me. Recently, they were arranged differently and the waste was sorted incorrectly right away.

My partner also keeps the waste containers under the sink, in a pull-out drawer. However, the space they have in their bins wouldn’t be enough for us.

You will surely find space for a trash can in your kitchen. Such a bin can also be quickly and easily pushed aside with your foot when needed.

Now we also have the offer from Systemat/Häcker – 11,000 euros, with a slightly better exhaust hood included.
There is a waste solution here for the 60cm (24 inches) US cabinet with 2x 32 liters (8.5 gallons) and two times 17 liters (4.5 gallons) spanning the full height. The 30cm (12 inches) would be a mini pull-out cabinet.

Häcker is miles ahead in quality compared to Nolte or Nobilia! Plus, you get a larger cabinet body and a smaller plinth like with Ballerina!

No... the cabinet is larger with Note—at least for our working height. Both sellers, who are independent and don’t sell the other brand, agreed that the quality of both is comparable.

We have requested a few more changes – the Systemat seller has confirmed once again that it is indeed a Systemat, even though the drawings show it differently (cabinet layout). Let’s see if we can make the purchase before the New Year.

The furniture store made the appliance changes to Neff T83T42N2MC, NEFF D39G69S0, Neff TT8342N, and Siemens KI86NAD30 at no additional cost.
Also, nothing extra is charged for the two internal drawers for the middle tall cabinet.
The kitchen studio charged €500 for 4 internal drawers and credited €260 for upgrading the refrigerator to A++.
