ᐅ Doors hitting the floor on the KALLAX – how can I raise them?

Hello everyone,
I have an issue with the doors of my Ikea KALLAX unit hitting the floor when closing. The noise is quite loud, and I’m concerned it might cause long-term damage to the material or the doors. The unit is standing directly on the floor and is assembled correctly and level.
My question is: How can I adjust or raise the doors on the KALLAX so they no longer hit the floor, without having to disassemble the unit or make major modifications? Are there any proven methods, for example adjusting the hinges, adding pads, or other solutions? I would prefer to keep it simple and avoid using special tools.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Exactly, adjusting the hinges is the way to go! 🙂
I just stuck small felt pads underneath the doors of my KALLAX to stop any rattling. Super simple and it really helps!
Also, if you ever want to lift the shelf to slide something underneath, make sure the doors are open – otherwise, they can get stuck quickly. Good luck, it will definitely work!

A methodical approach would be advisable here:
1. Check whether the shelf is completely level on the floor and, if necessary, adjust it using small furniture shims.
2. Adjust the vertical set screw on the concealed hinges with a small Phillips screwdriver to slightly raise the doors.
3. If the doors still catch when closing, they may be slightly warped or the hardware not perfectly aligned. In this case, additional glides or door buffers can help.
Adjusting the door height does not require special tools or removing the doors, but it does require fine tuning until the desired height is achieved.

I had the same issue with my KALLAX doors on laminate flooring. From my experience, it’s also important not to tighten the hinges too much, as an overly tight fit can affect the door alignment.
When adjusting the vertical screw, it’s best to repeatedly test the door movement until it no longer rattles. Additionally, applying a small amount of silicone oil to the sliding and hinge parts can reduce noise and make the movement smoother.
In my opinion, two things are essential: proper alignment and ease of movement.

With KALLAX, this is often the simplest solution when the hinges do not allow enough movement or the door is slightly warped.
