Hello,
Today I installed my Udden HW 320 range hood, which I would like to operate in recirculation mode. I have installed a suitable activated carbon filter, but unfortunately, the switch cannot be changed from exhaust mode to recirculation mode. It’s stuck, and I’m afraid of breaking it. Has anyone experienced similar problems and can offer any advice? What would happen if the switch stays in exhaust mode? Could it be that this is not a problem as long as the carbon filter is installed?
Thank you very much and best regards,
Grotho

Nayla_10689 Dec 2012 17:01Hi,
what kind of switch are you referring to? At the front, on the control panel?
Basically, if a carbon filter is installed, this or all IKEA hoods automatically operate in recirculation mode, that's it. Since the Udden hood does not have a duct for venting, it is designed for recirculation mode from the start.

Nayla_106810 Dec 2012 16:39Hi,
Hmm, to be honest, I hadn’t known about the switch before. Basically, I don’t think it really matters since there is only one motor and the air has nowhere else to go. So just leave the switch as it is.
Could you please connect the hood and use it while cooking? If you feel that it is not properly extracting odors despite the carbon filter, please call the manufacturer’s hotline, not Ikea’s. The number should be included in your documents. Since you have a warranty, they will send a technician very quickly to check the issue. Please don’t try to force anything yourself, as damaging the unit could affect your warranty claim.

maninblue12 Dec 2012 16:39Hi,
I’m experiencing the same issue right now; I bought the hood last week. Since the hood wasn’t ventilating very well, I suspected the switch, which is set to exhaust. The switch is connected internally to an air flap or something similar, but it doesn’t move (you can reach it with your fingers, but can’t see anything). The funny thing is: in my manual, image 13 with the switch doesn’t appear at all. Maybe the design has changed. Also, for example, with the drawers, the instructions no longer clearly explain how to remove them. I suspect IKEA is trying a bit too hard to protect its customers from accidentally damaging these delicate products right away.

IKEA-Experte12 Dec 2012 20:32I am familiar with a flap adjustment mechanism from an older Bauknecht hood. You had to apply some force because it locked firmly in place, as the flap is meant to stay in its position.
