Hello,
we are planning to purchase CPL doors for our planned new build.
1.- What should be considered regarding quality, manufacturer recommendations, etc.?
2.- Are white CPL doors just as durable and dirt-resistant as those with a wood decor finish?
3.- Is it possible to later replace the frame or trim (in case our child manages to damage the door)?

Thank you!

1. There are many manufacturers of CPL doors; we mostly source ours from Garant, Astra, and Jeldwen. The quality differences between the doors are minimal.

2. In theory, white CPL doors should be just as durable, but in practice, I cannot confirm this. It seems to me that the coating on white doors is much more brittle. Sometimes, even a slight mishandling can cause unsightly chips. Wood-look finishes appear to be significantly more resistant. Depending on the frame manufacturer and wall thickness, the frame miters can be joined with varying degrees of precision. This is hardly noticeable on wood finishes. However, with white finishes, the unattractive black gap in the miter joint is always visible.

3. If the snap-on trim is only glued at a few points and was not sealed with acrylic due to uneven walls, the door can usually be replaced without leaving any marks. Remove the snap-on trim, cut and remove the foam, then take out the frame.
