Our neighbor currently has a company building a garage. They also offer paving work and have given me a quote for our paving project. However, I have no idea how to assess the price. What costs did you have for paving work per square meter? What costs should I ideally expect for paving work? Is there an approximate average cost for paving work?

Thank you

Guys, you shouldn’t compare apples and oranges. What I paid for the 72 included filling, a stair landing, and a pebble border around the house.
Paved terrace next to a white building with a door, hose reel, and tire wall on a slope.

White single-family house with red roof and solar panel, building plot and shovel in the foreground.

Paved side walkway next to white house, construction site with porta-potties in the background.

Nordlys, that looks really stylish. I like the pebble edge. What type of gravel did you use there?

As far as I can see, your installation is not just a simple “staggered” pattern but a bit more complex. The pebble edge is a good idea. Was the width planned like that?

Well, the 50–70€ (about $54–76) range at least gives a rough benchmark to evaluate offers.

What is the price per square meter for a stone suitable both for terraces and paving? 15€, 20€, 30€, 35€? I’m not talking about premium products but a price/performance winner. Feel free to include a link to the stone!

Gravel refers to crushed granite material, which is probably the cheapest option available. Stones, for example anthracite rectangular pavers, cost 11.00 gross per square meter (10.8 sq ft) here, while the beige ones are Diephaus via patio, at 17.50 per square meter (16.3 sq ft). Both are concrete pavers. Natural stone paving is significantly more expensive.

I see... so 30€ or 35€ is excessive, and then only if you want something visually appealing and have extra money to spend.

Why call it a palace? Unfortunately, it’s not.
There are simply three parking spaces in front of the double carport. Obviously, the paving continues into the carport. Yes, the terrace is large, that’s true, and there is a pathway from the other side of the house to the terrace.

One idea would be to buy the stones and have them installed as a “DIY” project.

Take a look at nordlys’s example. €72 of that, €18 is for the stone itself.
You probably won’t save much even if you supply the stone yourself.
Your 180 m² (1937 sq ft) will probably cost a five-figure amount, I’d say.

(This cost is often overlooked when comparing the cost of a carport versus a (prefabricated) garage. For a 6 x 9 m (20 x 30 ft) carport, you can expect to spend around €4,000–5,000 on the flooring.)
