ᐅ What did you pay per square meter for paving work?

Our neighbor currently has a company building a garage. They also offer paving work and have given me a quote for our paving project. However, I have no idea how to assess the price. What costs did you have for paving work per square meter? What costs should I ideally expect for paving work? Is there an approximate average cost for paving work?

Thank you

That should be acceptable depending on the paving. We paid around 100 per square meter (approximately 9.3 per square foot), with the base layer roughly completed. However, our paving was quite labor-intensive to install. You might get down to 50 per square meter (about 4.6 per square foot) using the cheapest paving, but it’s unlikely to be any cheaper unless a worker can install at least 2-3 square meters (about 21-32 square feet) per hour, including base preparation, edging stones, and so on.

Why does that make you feel sick? 180 m² (1,938 sq ft) is no small amount. That’s about, I don’t know, space for 5 parking spots, a huge terrace, and a path to the front door.

We had two parking spaces and a path to the house, which came to about 40 m² (430 sq ft). But 180 m² (1,938 sq ft) … that would come with a corresponding mansion, so you should be able to easily afford the costs without feeling sick about it.

We also had about 140 sqm (approximately 1,500 sq ft) of paving to do due to the building window. We decided to use standard rectangular pavers for the front area (driveway and carport) and larger city pavers around the house and terrace. In the end, it was nearly 38 sqm (410 sq ft) of city pavers and 100 sqm (1,080 sq ft) of rectangular pavers, including the substructure and so on.

The total cost was 8,000 euros.

I can’t really assess this myself, since our structural contractor already completes the substructure with gravel for all paving work.

When he fills in, do you already have the final height for the surface layer? Seems unlikely... right?
So, the finished top edge of the surface - the height of the stones - the thickness of the paving bed = ??

Why a mansion? No, unfortunately not.
There are just 3 parking spaces in front of the double carport. Obviously, there is paving in the carport. Yes, the terrace is large, that’s true, and there is a pathway from the other side of the house leading to the terrace.

One idea would also be to buy the stones and have them installed as a “DIY” project.

As the architect explained the structural builder’s offer to me, only gravel needs to be added and then the paving can be installed.
