Hello everyone,

my aunt always says that she sprinkles used coffee grounds on her garden beds and that this supposedly helps against slugs.
Does anyone else know this trick or is it just wishful thinking?

People often recommend coarse sand, but if you listen closely, you’ll hear the snails laugh at all attempts to keep them away from the garden beds.

See you soon

The only effective way to deal with snails is salt. It’s harsh and cruel, but I can’t recommend anything better.

I can only imagine that the coffee gives off a smell that snails dislike, because they definitely won’t eat it. Fresh plants are much more attractive to them.

If you want to keep snails away from the garden beds, it’s better to get a snail fence—it keeps the pests off the lettuce. You can forget about the coffee method.

Hello,

my neighbors bought Indian Runner ducks that eat everything that moves in the garden. But it only makes sense if the garden is large enough and you can keep the ducks in a shelter when it gets cold.

Hey, that’s a great idea. Maybe several people could join together and buy the ducks collectively.

The only thing I know of is crushed eggshells. Apparently, snails can’t cross them, so you scatter them around the flowers, and then the flowers should be safe.
