Hello everyone,
my aunt always says that she sprinkles used coffee grounds on her garden beds and that this supposedly helps against slugs.
Does anyone else know this trick or is it just wishful thinking?

Otherwise, a beer trap works well. The slugs are attracted to it, rush to it wildly, and drown. Actually, quite a peaceful death...

Apply snail bait or install a snail barrier. Coffee grounds are good for fertilizing roses. 😉
In the remains of an old sandbox at our former apartment, wild strawberries have started growing and spreading. Although the sandbox boundary was gone and there were plenty of slugs crawling around, none of them crossed the sand to reach the strawberries. Maybe a sand barrier helps. It is definitely more environmentally friendly than slug pellets.
Snails overwinter in the soil, around the plants. In spring, when the plants start to sprout, the snails move upward as well.
Any type of barrier requires initially collecting the unwanted creatures.
