Hello,

we are currently planning our house and are considering adding a combination of a carport with a workshop room.

It is not a traditional carport but rather a hip roof extending from the house wall.

The roof area is 6x7m (20x23 feet). Under this roof is a solid masonry room used as a workshop.

The company’s price for this is €26,000.

They mentioned that the roof is the most expensive part.

Do you have any suggestions on how to reduce the cost?

How can the roof be built more cheaply?

It is important that it remains a double garage, with a 10sqm (108 sq ft) workshop room at the back, and a hip roof.

Thank you

Do you have a picture or a drawing to better understand it?
How about a single-sloped roof made of metal sheets with a corrugated or trapezoidal profile?

Hmm, first a carport, then a double garage again?

So 6x7m (20x23 feet) with space below for two cars and a workshop?

I actually meant double carport, not double garage.

I think the dimensions for parking two cars would be 6x5 meters (20x16 feet), and additionally, I have 6x2 meters (20x7 feet) for a small workshop room.

I definitely want to use bricks.

For me, the question is whether there is a more affordable alternative.

The picture would be roughly similar to this:

The roof is almost floating, supported by the workshop room at the back (masonry), the house wall, and a pillar at the front left.

So, 5m (16 feet) length just for the cars? The standard is usually 6m (20 feet). If there are more than just two small cars, this is not exactly generous.

My question is not primarily about the dimensions but about the construction.
