ᐅ Buying Tiles During the Shell Construction Phase

Hello everyone,

We received a great offer for Villeroy & Boch tiles at half price. The reason is that the batch does not exactly match the color of the regularly produced tiles and is therefore sold as a secondary color of first quality.
We need about 62 sqm plus waste and reserve, so at least 70 sqm (possibly a bit more since we won’t be able to reorder). That’s not a problem. We can get as many tiles as we want from this batch.

We are currently at the shell construction stage. The carpenter will start next week. This means we probably won’t need the tiles before May or later.
Can we store the tiles in the garage until then? The garage is also still under shell construction. It is missing the door, windows, and waterproofing of the flat roof.
Will the tiles be in the way? Are there any risks involved with storing them under these conditions?
What would you do?
22.50 €/sqm (about $24 per sq ft) for the desired Villeroy & Boch tile is definitely a strong price.

Good luck, milkie

We don’t like the polished ones as much because they are shiny. We wanted to keep things simple and not have to look for new tiles again.

As I said: it’s possible, but I wouldn’t do it...

We installed textured floor tiles on the walls throughout the shower area... Basically, you don’t even need to clean them.

Yes, that would be good too, but occasionally they should be cleaned... How does it work, for example, when cleaning in the shower? Is it possible without any problems, or does it only work with a lot of effort and does the cloth get ruined afterward?

You spray it on and then rinse it off. Up to now, cleaning has been just a formality because there is basically nothing to clean—at 95cm (37 inches) wide, hardly anything gets on there, so there is no need for a sponge or anything to scrub the tiles! Of course, a cloth would leave fibers if you scrubbed: both on the walls and on the floors.

Cleaning (spraying and rinsing) is, of course, no problem, but scraping will wear down the material.
