ninchen_629219 Nov 2015 19:37Hello, I hope someone here can help me. I bought a used Malm bed (180 x 200 cm (71 x 79 inches)). Unfortunately, there was no assembly manual included. Most of the assembly was self-explanatory.
However, I am having trouble with the cross braces. According to the latest IKEA assembly instructions, the eyelets for these cross braces are directly attached to the metal plates on the headboard and footboard. In my model, this is not the case. Instead, I have two additional metal parts (one curved and one straight) with eyelets at their ends for the cross braces.
My question is: Where and how are these metal parts fixed?
Does anyone perhaps have an older assembly manual?

IKEA-Experte19 Nov 2015 21:18Hello,
you still have the HAMAR center beam instead of the Skorva center beam.
The slats are attached to the center beam by the clamps, which serve as a support for the bed slats. The slats then form more of an X shape, rather than a diamond shape as in the newer beds.

ninchen_629219 Nov 2015 22:00Ah, thank you very much! Now the parts make sense. lol
However, I just noticed that I only have one set of the brackets. hmm
Is it possible to improvise here?

IKEA-Experte19 Nov 2015 22:13Buy sheet metal, cut, bend, drill.
As a spare part, the clamp is no longer available at IKEA.

ninchen_629219 Nov 2015 22:16Great, I’ll probably end up cutting, bending, and drilling my fingers off before I get a usable part out of this.
Thanks anyway for the information.
