Are there any specialized storage solutions for the accessories of the Ikea Hemnes series?

I plan to expand my Hemnes dressers and other furniture pieces but haven’t yet found an optimal organization method for the accessories, especially for shelves, drawer runners, and small inserts.

Which accessories are particularly suitable for creating effective storage without damaging the furniture components or affecting their appearance? Are there recommendations for alternative storage solutions that work well with the Hemnes line? Or perhaps custom builds and tips that you use?

I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Hey, great topic! Personally, I have tried a lot and can only say: stay flexible!

External boxes: If the accessories of the Hemnes series are not enough, I recommend sturdy wooden boxes with a neutral design

Perfect! I even painted some small boxes myself to fit the Hemnes dresser, and it looks really great.

Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t fit right away – with a bit of creativity, you can quickly find the perfect solution!

One more follow-up question about the fixed shelves: Are there really different versions that can be purchased separately, or is everything standardized with Hemnes?

My concern is that I might buy the wrong accessories and they won’t fit.

The shelves for Hemnes are generally standardized. You can reorder them directly from Ikea, and they fit quite well. If there are any uncertainties, measure and compare on site.

Great, thank you very much for your help so far!

I now have a rough overview of how to approach this entire topic and will stick to the measurements and use suitable boxes.

If anyone has recommendations for the best place to store small parts in the Hemnes dressers, I would appreciate your tips!

For small items, it is often best with Hemnes to use small compartments inside the largest drawers. This keeps them organized and prevents having to search through a large pile. Alternatively, consider custom-made inserts from thin wood or plastic.

Designing these packaging solutions is really enjoyable!

I agree! A few small boxes inside keep everything in its place. It’s important not to overfill, otherwise it quickly becomes cluttered.
