Hello everyone, I am currently considering whether I can use an Ikea PLATSA system to store my belongings in a more secure and organized way. Specifically, I am interested in whether Ikea PLATSA furniture elements come with lockable compartments or if it is possible to add locks myself. It is important for me to be able to lock individual compartments or sections to protect them from unauthorized access, for example, for documents or valuables. Does anyone have experience with this or know if there are official solutions with lockable doors or drawers? Or maybe some tips for modifications? Thanks in advance for your feedback and ideas!
Great topic! I fitted my PLATSA furniture with a few locks that I bought separately, attaching them to the inside of the doors – you just need to measure carefully and have some basic DIY skills.
Alternatively, I also bought lockable storage boxes and simply placed them in the open compartments. Works great if you're comfortable with DIY!
I can only encourage you: The flexible look of PLATSA doesn’t lose any of its appeal, but the security definitely improves 🙂
