Good morning everyone,
I am currently looking into the IKEA Platsa system because I am searching for flexible furniture for our living room. I noticed that there is a wide variety of fronts available, but I have not found clear information on whether the Platsa system includes fronts with glass elements, such as doors with glass panels, to make the contents visible without leaving them open.
My question is therefore: Does IKEA officially offer Platsa furniture with glass fronts, and if so, how are these listed or named in the catalog?
I would be interested to know if anyone is familiar with this option or perhaps has installed a specific piece of furniture with glass fronts to enhance the appearance while still protecting the stored items.
Thank you in advance for any information!

This leads me to the opinion that "PLATSA with glass fronts" is primarily a flexible assembly where glass fronts are added as an option to existing basic units, rather than being a separate product line.Exactly. The PLATSA system is based on modularity, and glass is more of an accessory than a standard feature.
Therefore, I would recommend checking the compatibility of the glass fronts with the respective PLATSA frames during the planning process.
Additional tips:
- Not all glass doors have the same thickness or mounting mechanism.
- It makes sense to check the dimensions directly in the warehouse or in the assembly instructions.
- The glass fronts are part of a range also referred to as “fronts for PLATSA” or “insert glass doors.”
This allows you to customize the look very well and make the furniture piece appear more open and lighter, without sacrificing protection against drafts or dust.
