Hello everyone,

I have a question that came up while planning my new wardrobe: Are there any Ikea Pax models or variants that explicitly come with integrated shoe shelves? I am interested in whether there are fixed shoe compartments that are part of the wardrobe’s interior, or if Ikea offers recommended accessory solutions that fit well into the Pax systems—ideally with a space-saving and organized design.

I’ve read quite a bit about the flexibility of the Pax system, but the information about shoe storage has always been somewhat vague. Specific details on integrated shoe shelves would be very helpful, as I want to avoid buying separate items or making custom modifications as much as possible.

I would appreciate experiences, recommendations, or insider knowledge—thanks in advance!

Hello calvin-ra,

Regarding your question about Ikea Pax and integrated shoe racks: Ikea does not offer specially built-in shoe racks within the Pax system like you might find in a dedicated shoe cabinet. However, there are various shelves and pull-out inserts that can be used as shoe storage.

- For example, you can use narrow shelves to store shoes horizontally.
- Special shoe boxes or shallow bins from Ikea’s product range can be easily integrated.
- There are also pull-out wire baskets suitable for shoes.

It is important to note that the Pax interior fittings are very flexible, allowing you to combine different elements freely. A fully prefabricated shoe compartment as part of an integrated system is rare.

If you value clever organization, divider systems and suitable baskets help — but fixed, “integrated” shoe racks as built-in fixtures are not typical in Ikea Pax.

That's been my experience as well. At first, I was disappointed because I thought shoes could be stored neatly and visibly inside the wardrobe – but after trying different adjustable shelves, it improved.

I think it also depends on how many shoes you want to store and how often you use them. If it's daily use, a fixed shoe rack would be better, but if you want flexibility, the Pax system really helps because many elements can be customized.

My advice: consider using a separate shoe rack and reserve the Pax for clothes. This way, you stay flexible and can ensure proper ventilation for your shoe storage. Of course, this depends on your budget and available space.

Regarding the topic:

Ikea Pax does not include a dedicated shoe rack model as an integrated component. The official product overview does not list shoe racks as standard accessories but suggests individual shelves or wire baskets as adaptable solutions.

The following points should be noted:
- Fixed shoe racks installed inside the wardrobe are not planned.
- Shoes are ideally stored on sturdy shelves that are easy to clean and organize.
- Ikea also offers shoe boxes and storage containers that can be seamlessly integrated into the Pax system.

This means: You need to decide for yourself how much shoe capacity you require when planning and then choose suitable built-in modules. For a sustainable and organized solution, a combination of shelves and storage boxes is advisable.

If a true, specialized shoe rack is desired, it is recommended to look at additional furniture or accessories outside of Pax.

I would like to offer a clear and structured assessment based on my experience with Ikea Pax and shoe organization:

1. In general, there are no Ikea Pax models that come with fixed shelves specifically designed for shoes.

2. Ikea offers various shelves as accessories in different depths (e.g., 35 cm (14 inches) or 58 cm (23 inches)) that can be used as shoe shelves. However, these shelves do not have grooves or special holders.

3. A good tip: use wire drawers or storage baskets that can be pulled out to keep shoes organized and more accessible.

4. Different shoe boxes with transparent fronts or stackable plastic boxes can also be integrated into the Pax system but must be purchased separately.

5. Common mistake: simply stacking shoes on ‘normal’ wooden shelves, which quickly becomes untidy and hard to clean.

Conclusion:
If you are looking for an integrated shoe shelf model in the traditional sense, you won’t find one with Pax. However, the system allows for individual and practical solutions if you plan with compatible accessories and possibly add drawers or boxes.
