ᐅ Are there Ikea Pax wardrobe models with built-in interior lighting?

DutumoHello everyone, I am currently considering whether there are any Pax wardrobe system models from Ikea that come with integrated interior lighting, or if this always needs to be retrofitted. I am particularly interested in whether Ikea directly sells versions where the lighting is installed at the factory inside the wardrobe and connected to the frame. It would also be especially relevant to know if this lighting can be controlled smartly or at least has motion sensors, so that the inside of the wardrobe is automatically illuminated when opened. So far, I have only found occasional references to LED strips and external lighting solutions, but no clear information about models with factory-installed interior lighting. Does anyone know more? What are the experiences and recommendations? Thanks in advance!

For clarification:
That is correct. The Pax system from Ikea is generally sold without built-in interior lighting. However, Ikea offers various optional lighting solutions that are compatible with the wardrobe frames or cabinet units. For example, the "Omlopp" LED cabinet lighting, which is battery-operated, easy to install, and can include a motion sensor. Direct smart control (via Wi-Fi or an app) is typically not included as a standard feature in the Pax range. Usually, additional products or upgrades are required for this.
A general recommendation: Anyone who values stylish and functional interior lighting should consider combining Ikea solutions with third-party LED strips featuring motion sensors or smart control. This simplifies installation and often provides more flexibility and customization compared to Ikea’s complete solutions.

Hello Dutumo,
your question addresses a key point that concerns many Ikea Pax users. Ikea does not actually offer Pax wardrobe models with factory-installed interior lighting. Most lighting solutions for Pax are available as accessories and can be installed afterward.
However, there are some practical options to illuminate the inside of your Pax wardrobe neatly and conveniently:
- The "OMLOPP" LED lights are battery-powered, easy to install without drilling, and have built-in motion sensors. They automatically turn on when the door is opened.
- For smarter options (control via app or voice assistant), third-party products are usually required, but these can be relatively easily routed inside the wardrobe.
- For a professional solution, you can use mains-powered LED strips connected to a fixed power source, but this requires some DIY skills.
One tip: Since Pax wardrobes are modular, they can be well prepared for custom lighting installations, such as cable channels or perforated panels behind the panels. This makes retrofitting lighting much easier later on.
If you have any further questions, I’m happy to help!
