RozarHello everyone,
I am currently exploring the IKEA Platsa system and planning to assemble a complex cabinet solution myself. I have noticed that the supplied assembly instructions are sometimes a bit brief for me, especially since I don’t have prior experience with the Platsa modules.
My question is: Are there any detailed assembly guides for IKEA Platsa available, either in addition to or instead of the manuals, as video tutorials?
It would be very helpful if the videos not only show the basic assembly but also cover common pitfalls and useful tips, such as how to best align the modules or which tools work best.
Thank you very much for your support!

Hello Rozar,
Regarding your question about videos for assembling IKEA PLATSA: IKEA generally offers some assembly videos on their website or through the IKEA app. However, these are often quite short and only cover the basic assembly.
I have assembled several PLATSA units myself and can offer the following advice:
- Check directly on IKEA’s product page for PLATSA, where you can often find PDF manuals and sometimes embedded videos.
- YouTube is one of the best sources in Germany, as many private users and craftsmen upload detailed step-by-step videos.
What I recommend is using these short tutorials in combination with the PDF manual. I also advise against ignoring the manual entirely—especially with PLATSA, as many module connections require precise sequencing.
If you like, I can share some links later that I found particularly helpful.

Hello Rozar,
I would like to add that there are indeed both official and unofficial videos available. Official ones are limited, but many enthusiasts and retailers share useful clips.
A often overlooked point when assembling PLATSA cabinets is proper preparation:
- Basic everyday tools are usually sufficient, such as screwdrivers, a spirit level, and a Phillips screwdriver.
- It is important to lay out all parts before assembly and compare them with the instruction manual.
- Videos often show exactly how to use the connectors, which the PDFs may not illustrate as clearly.
If you find the assembly instructions too brief, you should also pay attention to whether a specific module in your project involves more than a standard part, as PLATSA modules are very flexible but also individually different. Sometimes it makes sense to look for a video specifically about your chosen combination module.
Best of luck with the assembly!

Hello everyone,
I would like to go into more detail on this topic, as PLATSA is not entirely straightforward due to its modularity and adjustability. IKEA’s assembly instructions are often linear and designed for standard setups. The videos available online usually only show these standard configurations.
Helpful tips for PLATSA:
- Carefully check the room dimensions before assembly, as PLATSA is customizable and sometimes you need to adjust the back panels, which is rarely shown in videos.
- When connecting the elements, make sure the connectors fit perfectly before tightening the screws, otherwise you might encounter tension issues.
- Check the side panels carefully before attaching them when dealing with height and depth, as fit problems often occur due to assembly errors.
Personally, I always make a small video of the assembly process alongside building, so I can review specific steps later if needed.
I would also like to know exactly which model configuration you want to assemble, as this makes advising easier – unfortunately, the videos are not always suitable for all variations.

My current project is a large PLATSA system consisting of several carcasses, which I want to combine both horizontally and vertically. The main units are a mix of standard cabinets with doors and open compartments, plus two drawer modules at the bottom.
I have looked at the assembly instructions, but especially when connecting different heights and widths, some aspects are not clearly explained. This is exactly where I hope video guides can provide more confidence regarding the correct assembly sequence and technical fastening.
Have you seen any videos or instructions that specifically address such more complex combinations?

Have you perhaps seen any videos or instructions that specifically address more complex combinations like these?Regarding this question: Unfortunately, modular systems like PLATSA typically only have basic videos provided by IKEA.
The official manuals focus on individual modules and their standard assembly. More complex combinations involving multiple modules or custom dimensions are not explicitly covered.
In my opinion, it is therefore advisable to assemble the single modules separately first before proceeding with the combination steps. This helps avoid errors and makes troubleshooting easier if something doesn’t fit.
Additionally, I recommend documenting the assembly preparation and asking questions in forums like this one when needed, as examples of complex configurations are rare.
In my research, videos that specifically address variable combinations are hard to find—most remain basic tutorials for standard assembly.
