Are there any tips for wall mounting the Malm dresser? I plan to secure the dresser against tipping over since I have small children in the house. However, I’m unsure which anchors or screws are best suited—especially considering different wall types like drywall (plasterboard), concrete, or brick. I’m also interested in the ideal placement of the mounting points and the best procedure for installation. Has anyone had experience with securing this dresser to the wall and can offer practical advice?

The mounting brackets of the Malm dresser are typically located at the top rear of the side panels. When mounting to the wall, make sure that the screws engage both brackets simultaneously to ensure the dresser is securely hung. Dimensions may vary depending on the model, so always check the installation instructions. Attaching the dresser at least at two points prevents swaying and significantly increases stability.

I attached my dresser to the wall using a set of heavy-duty anchors designed specifically for brick and concrete. It’s important to drill the holes precisely and measure carefully – otherwise, it can easily become misaligned. And honestly, a little fun is necessary too, not just the technical stuff! 😉 But safety definitely comes first here.

Summary: Choose anchors suitable for the wall and attach the chest of drawers only to the designated brackets. Nothing more complicated is necessary.

I’m not going to give up on the fun, but I also don’t want to compromise on safety. Thanks for the tips so far. Are there any experiences with additional reinforcements, such as angle brackets or special furniture connectors, to further improve stability? Or are the standard metal plates and the screws designed for them completely sufficient?

In my experience, the original mounting brackets with appropriate anchors are completely sufficient if the wall is sufficiently load-bearing. Additional angle brackets are not necessary unless the wall is very unstable or made of low-quality drywall.

If you want to be on the safe side, you can also use a metal strap or security straps that go from the dresser to the wall. These are specifically designed for child safety. Additionally, they provide some flexibility against tipping without putting too much strain on the wall.
