Hello everyone,

I am currently working on setting up our new bedroom and have chosen the Ikea Brimnes series, which is said to be quite popular and functional. Since we have young children, I want to make the bedroom as child-friendly as possible, especially regarding safety, usability, and storage options.

Does anyone have tips or experience on how to arrange the Brimnes bedroom to be as kid-friendly as possible? I’m particularly interested in aspects like the best choice of furniture combinations, protection from sharp corners or edges, additional storage solutions, or clever ways to store toys or clothes that make it especially easy and safe for children.

I look forward to helpful replies – perhaps also with practical examples. Thanks in advance!

Hello keosau51,

I understand that safety and functionality are especially important to you, particularly with young children. The edges on the Brimnes range are often quite sharp, so I would recommend getting softer edge protectors. There are affordable silicone covers available that are easy to apply. These significantly reduce the risk of injury.

I also use small boxes with child-friendly designs on open shelves to keep things from lying around loosely and to make the room look tidy. The boxes help maintain order and are easy for children to access.

In general, I find a mix of lower furniture pieces useful, as it allows children to reach their belongings on their own, which promotes independence.

If you want more advice on storage solutions, I’d be happy to share additional tips.

Brimnes has many drawers – use them for toys and clothes to keep the room tidy.

Attach edge protectors to the bed frame. Secure the furniture firmly to the room so that children cannot tip it over.

To optimize safety in an Ikea Brimnes children's bedroom, I recommend:

- Securely anchoring the furniture to the wall, as Brimnes dressers and beds can tip over.
- Using rounded edge protectors, preferably made of BPA-free silicone.
- Choosing wardrobes and dressers with soft-close mechanisms to reduce the risk of finger injuries.

Regarding storage:
- The Brimnes beds with integrated drawers offer good storage space for both clothes and toys.
- Removable storage boxes made of fabric or plastic are suitable for maintaining order while retaining flexibility.

In conclusion, the design should be not only functional but also clear and organized so that children can use the rooms independently.

Wow, I love the Brimnes collection, but yes, edge protection is definitely a concern, especially when the kids are already moving quickly around the room! I simply used colorful edge protectors at home – they not only make things safer but also add a bit of color.

One more tip: set up a cozy corner with soft blankets and cushions next to the bed; it helps calm the little ones after waking up and provides a good retreat.

Oh, and if you need space-saving storage, I installed narrow shelves from Brimnes on the wall. They’re great for books and small toys, and the kids can easily grab and put things back themselves.

Have a great day!

Brief and to the point: When setting up a Brimnes bedroom for children, safety and clarity should be the top priorities.

I consider the following points especially important:
- Use of furniture anchors on the walls, especially for wardrobes and shelves.
- Edge protection on sharp corners, particularly on the bed frame.
- Sufficient storage space with easily accessible drawers for toys and clothing.

Additionally, I recommend regularly checking the furniture for loose screws and making the handles child-safe if necessary.

If you are handy, a slight modification of the handle design can help with this.
