Good morning everyone, I am planning to furnish a teenager's room with furniture from the Brimnes series by Ikea, aiming to make it as functional and space-saving as possible. My specific question is: How can Ikea Brimnes be used most effectively in a teenager's room to maximize storage space while creating a comfortable atmosphere for a teen and providing flexible options for school, leisure, and possibly hosting friends? I am especially interested in tips on the best combinations and arrangements of the components, particularly for small to medium-sized rooms around 10-12 m² (108-129 sq ft). Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I would recommend the Brimnes loft bed, as it saves a lot of space. You can place a desk or dressers underneath the bed. This way, there is more open space in the room for movement and guests.

The Brimnes series is really practical for youth bedrooms because it focuses on modularity. It is important to carefully consider the combination of a bed with storage and the wardrobe components—especially the depth of the furniture to avoid losing too much usable space. You should also think about lighting, such as LED lights on the sides of the shelves, to create a pleasant atmosphere.

Hello, to make the most of the Brimnes series in a youth bedroom of about 10-12 sqm (108-129 sq ft), I recommend the following approach:

- First, choose the main piece, for example the Brimnes daybed with drawers or the loft bed, depending on the ceiling height.
- When placing the furniture, pay special attention to the accessibility of drawers and doors, so they are not blocked by other furniture.
- Use the Brimnes dressers (for example, 3- or 6-drawer versions) as flexible storage solutions for clothes, school supplies, or hobby materials.
- For the desk area, the Brimnes desk model with an additional shelving unit is suitable to keep books and study materials within easy reach.
- To make the room feel larger and brighter, place the furniture preferably against a wall that receives plenty of natural light and use light-colored wall paint.
- Optionally, Brimnes wall shelves can be installed below windows or above the desk to increase vertical storage space.

What is the layout of the room? Could you also say if the room has high ceilings or special angles that need to be considered?

Thanks for the answers so far. The room is rectangular, just under 11 m² (118 ft²), with a ceiling height of about 2.40 m (7 ft 10 in), and has a window on the longer side. The door opens inward on the opposite wall. The corners are right-angled, with no sloping ceilings. The furniture should therefore be space-saving and mainly combined in an area that is not strongly shaded from the light. The youth bedroom is for a 14-year-old who works a lot at the desk with a laptop but also needs storage space for clothes and books. Flexible surfaces would be practical to also accommodate friends sometimes.

Based on your description, I recommend placing the Brimnes loft bed directly against the wall with the window, so that a desk or a chest of drawers can be positioned underneath. This way, you make good use of the ceiling height and create a clear separation between the sleeping and working areas.

- Use the Brimnes dressers for clothing next to the desk or on the free wall opposite.
- A cozy seating area with stackable chairs or a small sofa can be best arranged in the open space, provided you choose furniture that is not too wide.
- For the bookshelves, you can use the open Brimnes shelves, which do not visually weigh down the room.

This arrangement preserves natural daylight while avoiding an overly dense concentration of furniture in one spot. Cleaning and access to drawers remain easy.
