Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding spare parts for the IKEA Platsa system: Is it actually possible to order individual replacement parts such as shelves, hinges, structural components, or fittings for PLATSA furniture easily and directly online? I am considering this because I would prefer to replace just the damaged or worn part rather than the entire piece of furniture.

Are there reliable sources, either directly from IKEA or third-party suppliers, that offer these spare parts with good availability and fast shipping options? Perhaps someone has concrete experience with the availability and ordering process, ideally entirely online without needing to visit an IKEA store.

I would appreciate any information on current options, ordering platforms, or tips on how to best obtain these parts.

You can order replacement parts for Platsa from IKEA online, but not all of them.

If a part is not available online, customer service can assist. Shipping costs always apply.

Have the product number ready to make the process easier.

It took me a while to receive the correct parts from IKEA customer service.

That reminds me of my situation. At first, it really feels complicated when you’re not sure if the replacement part you ordered is the right one.

I would recommend taking some time and describing exactly what you need when contacting customer service – ideally with photos (if possible) and precise product numbers.

Especially with PLATSA being so modular, careful preparation is definitely worthwhile. That way, you can avoid frustration.

Another useful piece of information:

The IKEA spare parts service offers free in-person consultation on site, where you can view and take parts with you – if you live near a store. This can be helpful if online ordering is not possible or if there is uncertainty about selecting the right parts.

Additionally, there are documented PLATSA assembly plans available as PDFs on the IKEA website, which assist in identifying individual components.

Thorough preparation makes purchasing spare parts easier.

How exactly does the process work for customer service phone orders?

Usually, it goes like this: You call the service hotline with the product number and as detailed a description as possible of the part you need.

The agent checks availability, informs you of the costs including shipping, and takes your order.

At the end, you receive an order confirmation by email. Processing time is usually 1-3 business days, and shipping is sometimes done directly from the warehouse.

It is important to always have the invoice number or proof of purchase available if needed.

I agree with that. For me, it is especially important to get the correct part. Thank you for the tips regarding the construction plans and PDF documentation.

Apparently, the best approach is to first check if the spare part is available online. If not, a call to customer service will probably be unavoidable.

If anyone has experience with third-party suppliers or forums that actually sell spare parts—that would also be interesting. However, I prefer original parts for compatibility reasons.
