TanbenHello everyone, I am currently planning a DIY project using IKEA furniture as a base and am particularly interested in the Brimnes system. Does anyone have experience using IKEA BRIMNES as a DIY foundation, especially regarding workmanship, stability, and possible modifications? I am mainly curious about how well the materials hold up for custom alterations, whether there are any issues with structural load-bearing capacity, and which tools and techniques have proven effective. I would also appreciate hearing about creative ideas or specific challenges encountered during the conversion. Looking forward to your opinions and experiences!

The structural analysis is fine, but make sure to reinforce for heavy loads.I would like to clarify this: How do you define "heavy loads"? Without clear load limits, this seems a bit vague to me. Do any users have specific weight figures or test results? It would also be interesting to know how MDF surfaces hold up with frequent drilling.

From my experience, BRIMNES is a solid foundation, especially due to its simple modular design. For technical modifications, I recommend using metal screws rather than just the original dowels. For surface treatment, I advise always smoothing the edges with fine sandpaper before painting or finishing to prevent cracks.
