Hello everyone, I am currently looking into the Ikea Brimnes range, especially the wardrobes and their options for customization. Since I would like to enhance the furniture piece and make it more functional at the same time, I am seeking specific DIY tips. What experiences have you had with refinements, modifications, or practical extensions? I am particularly interested in solutions that are easy to implement, such as changes to the doors, additional compartments, or clever handles. Maybe there are also ideas to use the storage space more efficiently or to vary the design with changes in color and materials. I would really appreciate practical, tested suggestions and small tricks that add value to the furniture.

A classic upgrade is replacing the handles with metal or leather handles. This immediately enhances the appearance of BRIMNES. Also recommended: interior lighting with self-adhesive LED strips.

I covered the doors of my BRIMNES wardrobe with chalkboard film – now I can stick notes or shopping lists directly on the door. It’s not only charming but also turns the piece of furniture into a functional highlight in the kitchen or hallway. Quick tip: Using chalk markers works much better for writing than regular chalk!

At first, I had trouble making the most of the storage space in the BRIMNES. Then I tried using simple wooden shelf dividers that you just place inside the drawers. This made my organization system much clearer. Maybe this will help you reduce clutter and improve overview as well.

For specific DIY modifications on BRIMNES, I recommend the following proven tips: - Replace the standard handles with high-quality metal handles, such as brushed steel; - Install self-adhesive LED strips along the top inside for better visibility; - Attach furniture feet to raise the piece and make cleaning underneath easier; - Use thin cork or felt mats inside the drawers to prevent slipping; - Paint the fronts with chalk paint for a personalized look. These changes are reversible and do not affect the functionality.

In addition to the tips mentioned so far, I recommend paying close attention to the stability of the drawers when installing interior fittings. Overlay inserts should be made of lightweight material to avoid affecting the mechanism. It is also worthwhile to install soft-close dampers, if they are not already in place, to reduce noise.
