Hello everyone,

I’m planning to assemble an IKEA Brimnes wardrobe soon and was wondering if there are any tricks or proven methods to significantly speed up the assembly process without compromising quality or safety.

I imagine that for a piece of furniture with multiple parts and screws, like the Brimnes wardrobe, some organizational tips or specific tools might make the job easier. Does anyone have experience or advice specifically related to this model?

I’m also interested in whether there is an optimal assembly sequence that has been shown to save time.

Thank you in advance for any helpful feedback!

Good point, misaelfo!

The Brimnes part isn’t actually too complicated, but there are definitely a few tricks you can use.

First, I would recommend unpacking everything completely and sorting all the screws, wall plugs, and other small parts—ideally into small containers or bowls. This way, you’ll lose less time searching for them.

This helped me back then: Quickly label the individual boards with sticky notes so you always know where each piece goes later. It works best while going through the manual.

Also—and this makes me smile—grab a screwdriver with a good grip (or a cordless drill with torque control), it makes screwing much nicer and faster.

And: Two people are worth their weight in gold, even if that sounds like a cliché. It saves a lot of time and frustration when aligning the doors or lifting parts.

Sounds almost like a kit, but having some fun doesn’t hurt; it makes the process easier! 😊

Hello misaelfo,

I understand your question well because the topic of furniture assembly is often underestimated – especially with models like Brimnes.

My advice: Take the time to read through the entire manual before you start. This will save you a lot of trouble later on.

I can only agree with that. In addition, you can set up a clear assembly area where you won’t mix up any parts.

Regarding the order: Start with the larger components and make sure to only tighten all screws lightly until the piece of furniture is fully assembled. Afterwards, you can tighten everything securely to ensure nothing is misaligned or stressed.

For extra safety, you can note down a numbering system for the screws. That way, you know exactly which screw is used in which step and at what position.

If you find it difficult to hold certain parts on your own, see if someone nearby can assist you – this will not only speed up the process but also make assembly more relaxed.

Good luck!

Exactly that—I completely agree! Especially the “loose screws at first” approach prevents frustration later when you have to undo everything because a panel doesn’t fit.

Another practical tip with Brimnes: Place the parts on a soft surface when working with the back panel. This prevents scratches and makes assembly easier because nothing can slip around.

Also regarding the doors: The hinges on Brimnes are quite cleverly designed, so taking your time assembling them is crucial. If you’re impatient, things can easily go wrong. It helps to carefully fine-tune the hinges with a small screwdriver if needed.

To save time: The better prepared you are, the fewer problems you’ll have. As annoying as the phrase sounds, “Preparation is half the battle” really applies here.

If you want, I can also share tips on how to adjust the doors faster. Just let me know!
