Good morning everyone, I’m currently trying to assemble my IKEA Brimnes wardrobe and keep running into assembly issues that make fitting parts together difficult or cause instability. What tips do you have for avoiding or fixing common mistakes when assembling the BRIMNES wardrobe? I’m especially interested in how you handle misaligned drill holes or uneven gaps, as well as advice for achieving better fit and alignment of the doors and drawers. Any help is appreciated, as I want to finish the wardrobe fairly quickly without having to take everything apart multiple times.

Make sure to sort all parts before assembly and check them against the instructions. Misaligned drill holes usually result from twisting the components—double-check carefully which side is top or bottom.

Regarding the fit and alignment of IKEA BRIMNES: The doors and drawers usually require fine adjustments of the hinges and slides. Use a small screwdriver to adjust the hinges sideways or in depth. For uneven gaps, it helps to first tighten all screws by hand, then gradually tighten them fully while repeatedly checking. This prevents warping.

If the drill holes do not align, check whether you have swapped any parts. You might need to slightly enlarge the standard drill holes using a drill, but do so carefully to avoid damaging the material.

I love the BRIMNES and think the assembly is really great! If something doesn’t fit for you, don’t panic! Sometimes it really helps to change the order of the components or to loosely screw all the boards together first. Then it works perfectly! Just keep at it, you’ll get it! :-)

A common mistake is incorrectly assembling the side panels. With BRIMNES, the drill holes are usually clearly marked, but the instructions are not always clear. Tip: Lay out the edges and drilling pattern on a flat surface and check them in parallel before inserting screws. This saves having to make adjustments later.
