I have recently started looking more closely into Ikea Metod kitchens, as I am planning to install one myself. I have noticed there are frequent reports where users mention specific faults or problems. I am particularly interested in understanding: What are the most common issues encountered with Ikea Metod kitchens? It would be helpful if you could highlight both mechanical and design or functional weaknesses, especially those relevant for those who choose to assemble the kitchen themselves. Tips on faulty components or typical installation problems would also be very helpful. Who has experience or can at least estimate the failure rates?

A common mistake that is relatively easy to avoid: overlooking the correct orientation of the hinges and incorrectly attaching the fronts, which leads to warped doors. That sounds plausible, as I have found the hinge alignment to be a bit tricky so far. Are there any specific tips or tools for proper adjustment that you would recommend?
Also, you mentioned that the baseboards are problematic. Would it help to assemble the kitchen completely without the baseboards initially and attach them later, or are there disadvantages to this approach?
Thanks for the answers so far; I am currently working on creating a step-by-step list for my installation.

Are there any special tips or tools you would recommend for proper alignment? Yes, using a small spirit level when installing the doors is extremely helpful. Also, the hinges should be installed in the sequence specified in the assembly instructions – it often helps to fix them roughly at first and then fine-tune the alignment precisely.
Regarding baseboards, I can say that it is indeed advisable to install them last. This way, you can accurately align the cabinet units beforehand and better compensate for any floor irregularities before the baseboards are firmly attached.
Here is an additional tip: double-check all measurements multiple times before final screwing to avoid having to make later adjustments.
