I have recently started looking more closely into Ikea Metod kitchens, as I am planning to install one myself. I have noticed there are frequent reports where users mention specific faults or problems. I am particularly interested in understanding: What are the most common issues encountered with Ikea Metod kitchens? It would be helpful if you could highlight both mechanical and design or functional weaknesses, especially those relevant for those who choose to assemble the kitchen themselves. Tips on faulty components or typical installation problems would also be very helpful. Who has experience or can at least estimate the failure rates?

The most common issues with Ikea Metod kitchens mainly involve the following points:
- Inaccuracies when assembling the carcasses, especially for those with little experience in furniture assembly
- Door hinges that are sometimes difficult to adjust precisely, causing slight misalignment of the front panels
- Baseboards that can sometimes warp if the floor surface is not level
- Front panels made from inexpensive materials can be easily damaged if handled carelessly
- Sinks and countertops are often prone to oil or water damage if the sealing is not done correctly
There are also frequent complaints about missing or damaged small parts in the delivery package, which delays the installation process.

Watch out for the rails of the drawer slides. They are often the weak point and can stick or jump.
The installation instructions can also sometimes be unclear, which may lead to errors.

I share a similar view but would like to add that when planning Metod kitchens, it is very important to use the Ikea planner tool carefully. Errors in the planning phase often lead to issues during installation because dimensions do not fit or gaps appear.

Since the topic is often quite diverse, it is best to approach it systematically by focusing on the cabinet carcasses, fronts, fittings, and electrical/plumbing connections.

A common mistake that is relatively easy to avoid is overlooking the correct orientation of the hinges and incorrectly attaching the fronts, which results in warped doors. Additionally, errors occur when installing countertops if they are not placed precisely on the cabinet carcasses. This can lead to stress and later damage.

Overall, the quality of the screws and fasteners makes a good impression; however, it is advisable to be cautious when installing components by third parties or when frequently dismantling parts.

Door hinges are the most common source of errors. They are either installed incorrectly or fail to function properly after some time.

From my own experience, I can add the following points:

- The connectors between the cabinet units can sometimes be a bit tricky and require careful handling
- Installing under-cabinet lighting and power outlets demands precise planning; otherwise, you may have to make complicated adjustments afterwards
- Baseboards (skirting boards) should never be installed only at the very end, so they can still be aligned if needed

Proper work preparation and checking the levelness of all installed elements are important to minimize errors.
