Hello everyone, I am very interested in the Ikea PAX wardrobe system, but none of the standard sizes fit our room perfectly.

Does Ikea offer PAX wardrobes in custom sizes, meaning specifically made-to-measure or adjustable in height, width, or depth? I’m not just referring to the options for shelves or doors, but really different case sizes beyond the standard dimensions.

Perhaps you have experience with customer service or installation when requesting something like this? Or do you know of alternative solutions for unusual room sizes? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Farresi,

Regarding your question about Ikea PAX wardrobes in custom sizes, I would like to clarify a few things. Basically, the PAX systems at Ikea are modular and come in specific standard dimensions: height is usually 201 cm or 236 cm, width in 50 cm or 100 cm segments, and depths of 35 cm or 58 cm.

Ikea does not offer made-to-measure options outside of these dimensions, as production and stock are optimized for them.

However, if the standard size is slightly off, you can:
- Bridge gaps with small fillers or panels
- Sometimes it is possible to combine wardrobe doors or units in the online configurator to achieve custom depths or widths, but these are limited combination options

If you really need custom sizes, you would have to either hire a carpenter to build a wardrobe similar to PAX or use third-party modifications (for example, custom-cut fillers or doors).

I recommend checking in-store or by phone before purchasing at Ikea, as regional offers or individual sizes might occasionally deviate from the standard, but officially there are no custom size options.

I hope this helps you for now.

Exactly, Ikea only produces standard modules, no custom sizes.

I want to add to this topic because it comes up regularly with PAX wardrobes and can be a bit confusing for some users.

The main reason there are no custom sizes is that Ikea keeps the system very standardized to keep costs low and ensure easy assembly. The individual frames are prefabricated, and the accessories and doors are designed to fit these dimensions.

If you need a width somewhere between 100 and 150 cm (39 and 59 inches), unfortunately there is no suitable solution within the PAX system. Often, combining multiple units or making small adjustments on site is the best approach.

I looked for that with my first wardrobe too and was disappointed. One alternative, if you are handy, is to add custom-built parts or special cover panels that you adjust yourself. Some carpenters also offer furniture that visually matches the PAX system but is tailor-made.

My recommendation: measure your room very carefully and consider whether you can live with a small gap or if a custom solution is really necessary. If in doubt, ask at the Ikea store; sometimes the staff can give helpful tips on how to use the system effectively.
