Hello everyone,
I recently installed a KALLAX shelving unit from IKEA with the matching doors. However, I just can’t get the doors to open properly! The hinges seem to be installed correctly, but somehow the doors stick or are difficult to open. I made sure the screws are tight and the door frames are not warped, but that hasn’t improved anything.
Does anyone have experience with fitting the KALLAX doors? Are there any specific tips or tricks to ensure smooth opening and closing? Would it help to adjust the hinges, or could the issue be related to the door alignment?
I would appreciate any advice, as I really don’t know what else to try.

Regarding the issue of KALLAX doors that are difficult to use or do not close properly, the following points should be noted: The doors have so-called 3-way adjustable hinges, which allow you to adjust the alignment in height, depth, and sideways.
It is important to first check the sideways alignment, as the problem is often caused by a too tight stop if the door sits too deep in the frame. Adjustment is made by screws on the hinge body.
Additionally, ensure that the shelving unit is placed on a level surface, as an uneven base makes proper adjustment more difficult.
Another issue can be that the screws on the hinge and door are not tightened enough, which can cause jamming or binding.
My tip: Remove the doors, systematically adjust the hinges (with the door mounted), then carefully rehang the door and test its function. If problems persist, check whether the edges of the shelving unit or the door are uneven or damaged.

Wow, I know that all too well! 🙂 The KALLAX doors are really practical, but adjusting them can definitely be frustrating!
Don’t give up! Eventually it works, and then you’ll be even happier 🙂 Good luck to everyone working on this right now!!

Most of the time, you can fix the doors by adjusting the hinges.

The doors have 3-way adjustable hinges, allowing you to fine-tune the alignment in height, depth, and sideways.
