Hello everyone, I am currently planning my new kitchen using the Ikea Metod system and facing the challenge of optimally combining base cabinets and corner cabinets. My goal is to maximize storage space while maintaining ease of use and accessibility.

My specific question: How can I design and arrange Ikea Metod base cabinets and corner cabinets so that they complement each other perfectly in daily use while making the most efficient use of the available space? Are there proven combinations, for example concerning cabinet fronts, interior organization, or practical corner solutions like carousel or LeMans units, that work particularly well? I am interested in tips to avoid dead space and space-saving solutions that are not only practical but also visually appealing.

I would be very grateful for any advice, experiences, or planning suggestions!

Hey Floju39, great question! 😊

To cleverly combine your base and corner cabinets in the Metod system, I would recommend going for the corner carousel cabinets – they are real space savers because they make even hard-to-reach areas usable.

A little tip: Using narrow pull-outs in the base cabinets helps prevent clutter – spices, bottles, and small pots find a perfect place there.

This is exactly where corner carousels are brilliant. They cost a bit more, but the extra use of corner space makes it totally worth it! 😉

So: corner carousel plus slim pull-outs in the middle, and everything stays organized and fully functional. Good luck with your planning!

Corner cabinets with a carousel are practical. For base cabinets, it is best to plan with internal pull-outs. This combination prevents dead corners and provides easy access.

Wow, I find these planning questions really fascinating!

Floju39, I recently planned an IKEA Metod kitchen myself and can only say: go for the LeMans corner units, they are fantastic! Your pots and pans practically slide right out of the cabinet, which is super convenient, especially when space is limited!

For the base cabinets in the middle, I used lots of drawers! They’re really great because you can organize items on multiple levels without having to reach too far.

Definitely do it this way, or you’ll miss out on something for your new kitchen! You’ve got this 👍

I think the discussion has started well, but I would like to point out: Does it really make sense to consider certain corner solutions like carousel or LeMans units as the ultimate answer?

When planning, it is always important to carefully measure the available space and question the actual usage habits.

I can only agree to a certain extent, because some users end up stuck precisely because the fold-out doors of the carousel corner require a lot of space in front of the cabinet. In small kitchens, this can become a real nuisance. There are several good solutions, so what speaks against a clever, possibly even simple use of space with regular cabinets plus internal pull-outs?

Just my two cents—careful consideration is what matters.

Corner cabinets work well with LeMans or carousel mechanisms. Drawer base cabinets complement these perfectly.

It is important to measure precisely and consider the corner’s leg depth.

When planning combinations, make sure that cabinet doors do not block each other.
