Hello everyone,

I am currently about to assemble the Ikea Brimnes wardrobe and wonder if there are any video tutorials or other visual aids that could make the assembly process much easier. The official assembly instructions from Ikea are okay, but sometimes I find myself missing more detailed practical insights, especially for tricky steps like installing the doors and correctly aligning the drawers.

Does anyone have experience with good video tutorials or perhaps their own tips on how to tackle this so it can be done quickly and smoothly? I would like to avoid spending hours on trial and error and improvised solutions.

Looking forward to your feedback and maybe some specific recommendations for helpful videos or other resources!

I find it interesting that this wardrobe, despite its popularity, apparently does not have any official Ikea videos. Has anyone been able to check whether the instructions from Ikea are at least available as PDFs with better visual layout than their printed versions?

Because I consider videos to be of little help if they don’t clearly walk through the more difficult steps. Especially with Ikea, relying on community videos could be problematic since they are often inconsistent and sometimes sloppy.

Are there reliable sources showing that videos actually provide added value rather than causing confusion? I ask because visual tutorials can often be too subjective and not always complete.

I can speak from personal experience. At first, I also doubted and almost gave up on the Brimnes. A well-made video, where someone clearly explains each step live, helped me a lot. Especially when assembling the door, you can see exactly how the dowels and screws should be positioned correctly.

Sometimes printed instructions alone can leave you feeling lost, especially if you don’t have much DIY experience.

However, I recommend making sure the video comes from a trustworthy source or community, as that greatly helps build confidence in the instructions.

I know a few YouTube channels that specialize in Ikea furniture and also cover the Brimnes series. They show the assembly process clearly, including how to secure the back panel and how the drawers slide.

Just search for 'Ikea Brimnes assembly step by step' and watch the videos. In my opinion, these tutorials are often better than the regular instructions.

Regarding door installation: An important tip is to make sure the hinges are completely detached before fitting them and initially only attached to the door before securing them to the cabinet. Many videos show this exact step and emphasize how to precisely adjust the doors so they don’t stick or hang unevenly.

Additionally, it’s worthwhile to use a small angle screwdriver or a fine cordless drill with a torque limiter to avoid applying too much pressure on the screws.

From a practical standpoint: There are some high-quality tutorials that show the assembly in great detail. If you are looking for something reliable, you can specifically look for videos with good ratings. The time saved through visual explanations is often significant compared to text and pictures alone.

I can only confirm that! I’m not a professional, but after watching a good video tutorial on the Brimnes, I actually enjoyed assembling it!

I took my time and proceeded step by step, with the camera next to me. In the end, the wardrobe was stable and the doors hung perfectly. So: be brave, the videos really help 😃

Maybe one more tip: look for videos that are recent, not too old – at first, I watched some where there were already small differences in the parts. This way you avoid unnecessary confusion!
