mimo69Hello everyone, I am currently facing a problem with my Ikea Platsa wardrobe. The dimensions of the wardrobe itself fit well in the room, but as soon as I try to get the fully assembled wardrobe through the interior door of the apartment, it doesn’t work. The door is apparently too narrow or the structure too bulky, so the wardrobe cannot pass through in width. I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with this or can offer tips on how to get the Platsa wardrobe into the apartment despite narrow doors. Is it advisable to partially disassemble the wardrobe, or are there other tricks for transport? I would appreciate concrete ideas and advice, especially regarding technical details I should keep in mind.

How wide exactly is the doorway, and what are the dimensions of the wardrobe? I ask because it often fails due to not taking all measurements properly into account. Is the doorway perhaps just slightly narrower than the wardrobe width, or do the frame or lintel also play a role?
Partially disassembling is definitely advisable, but without precise measurements and knowledge of the wardrobe modules, it is hard to give advice. Was the wardrobe fully assembled or can you transport individual modules separately? Technically, many flat-pack components can be taken apart. This is usually the best approach.
Ikea Platsa consists of modular units designed primarily for easy transport in separate parts or at least in larger sections. The dimensions of the individual modules vary depending on the configuration, but elements are often 60 cm (24 inches) wide, 40 cm (16 inches) deep, and 128 or 190 cm (50 or 75 inches) high.
Transport problems through doors often occur when the cabinet is fully assembled. The typical interior width of apartment doors is usually between 70 and 80 cm (28 to 31 inches), with door frames and thresholds reducing the available space slightly depending on their condition.
My advice: If you have already assembled the cabinet, break it down into its individual modules. This way, you can carry the modules through the door as separate parts, or if they are too deep, you can tilt and turn them as needed.
For particularly tight spots, temporarily removing the door or taking off the door frames can help create more space.

I would first recommend taking precise measurements of the door opening and the cabinet modules. Please consider the following points:
- Width and height of the door opening, including the frame
- Dimensions of the largest cabinet module or the assembled unit
- Whether the door can possibly be completely removed
It is also important to note the depth of the cabinet when tilting it, as this helps when maneuvering it through narrow spaces.
Disassembling the modules is highly advisable. The Platsa elements are designed to be taken apart without damage. This way, you avoid having to install new doors around the cabinet or even damaging walls in the process.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience or tips on how to get the Platsa wardrobe into an apartment despite doors that are too narrow?A proven method for moving large furniture through narrow doors is to disassemble it into the largest manageable parts possible.
This is especially practical with Platsa, as the modules are often connected by clips and can be separated with a screwdriver and some patience.
If that is not possible, removing the door frame or temporarily taking off the door may help.
Additionally, it might be worth checking if the wardrobe parts can be angled diagonally through the door, as this often provides more clearance than passing straight through.
