Hello everyone,

I am currently planning my new bedroom setup and am interested in the Pax wardrobes from Ikea. I have a specific question: Are there any PAX wardrobes with built-in lighting directly from the manufacturer—not just adding LED strips or external lamps afterwards, but a permanently installed, factory-integrated lighting solution?

My reasoning is that I would like a clean, well-thought-out solution without visible cables or additional attachments. Although I know many users retrofit lighting, I am curious whether Ikea offers this directly—perhaps newer models or special versions.

Does anyone have experience with this or know if you generally have to rely on accessories with PAX wardrobes, or if Ikea actually provides wardrobes with integrated lighting? I look forward to your opinions and insights!

I find this question very interesting – because honestly, Ikea is more known for straightforward, affordable furniture rather than high-end innovations like integrated lighting inside the wardrobe itself.

My hypothesis on this: No, Ikea does not offer such solutions. Sure, you can find plenty of lighting modules and LED strips for retrofitting, but fully integrated and invisible lighting supplied from the factory is not their standard. Why?

- Ikea focuses on modularity. Customers can decide for themselves if and how they want to add lighting.
- The effort and cost for permanently installed lighting would significantly increase the price.
- For many, the classic retrofit with LED strips is perfectly sufficient and much more flexible.

So, I see it this way: if you want clean, integrated lighting, you need to turn to specialized furniture manufacturers or do it yourself. Ikea prefers to stick with a modular system. What are your thoughts?

I can largely confirm that.

Ikea does offer various LED lighting systems for PAX, but these are all designed as accessories and are not pre-installed at the factory. In practical terms, this means:

- In the catalog or online, you’ll find a range of LED strips, spotlights, and interior cabinet lighting available as accessories.
- These can be easily integrated but are standalone and need to be installed individually.
- This is no less professional but rather flexible and modular – tailored to different needs.

If you want, you can install the lighting almost invisibly using hidden cable channels or special adhesive systems. While this is not factory installation, the appearance comes very close.

If you like, I can gladly share tips on how I set up the lighting in my PAX cabinet and which products I used.

That is certainly true, but I tend to view it a bit more critically. Especially when, like sethja, you value a clean, integrated solution, retrofitting isn’t always the best approach.

One might question whether Ikea is actually leaving a gap in their product range here, which customers then have to fill themselves. Especially in the premium segment or with high-quality, well-designed interiors, I do expect integrated solutions that don’t require retrofitting.

Of course, Ikea is not a luxury furniture manufacturer, but relying solely on modular retrofit solutions as a strategy could discourage customers in the long term who prefer to combine sustainability, aesthetics, and comfort.

Therefore: Are there reliable sources or even indications that Ikea plans to offer PAX wardrobes with integrated lighting in the future? Or will this topic be deliberately excluded? I think this would be an interesting point for discussion.
